is an abstract artist I met while living abroad in Ålesund, Norway. She worked at a café in the city center, where I, along with other international friends, often spent our time mulling over art projects and life. Rebekka initially began her artistic journey with floral drawings, but one day, on a spontaneous whim, she decided to host her own art gallery—despite having no prior experience with abstract art. Since then, she's hosted several art shows, opened a coffee shop, and recently moved to Oslo where she sells her work worldwide.
It had been far too long since my last visit to Ålesund. The city's quiet charm and the friends who still called it home were calling me back. Over the years, I've loved browsing through her online collection of abstract works and seeing what new designs she was crafting. I reached out to her with vision of what I had in mind. I relied heavily on Norway's landscape since it does have a way of stopping you in your tracks to gape. It needed to remind me of her art, something with pink in it, and used the landscape I knew I would soon be in. After I arrived, I thrifted a bright pink dress and waited. We would soon be driving for eight hours together, a road trip across the country, so I had nothing but time.
And about five hours into our trip and I saw it.
The perfect backdrop.
And apparently, sheep too.
